Tracks of the Week #1

I think I will post something like this every Sunday, summing up the week’s music in a single post.  This post covers my personal favourite tracks that were released via SoundCloud this week, of course some may disagree and think others were better, but let’s get down to business.  These tracks are in no particular order, as I find them equally as good.

1.  Kulkid x Cory Enemy – The Light

Premiered on Thissongissick.com, this future house track sums up how the genre has progressed in recent times.  A nice melodic bassline with accompanying vocals, this track is as some people would say “a banger”, it definitely makes you want to get up and move.  What more could you want?  Oh yes, it’s available for free download.

2.  Apashe – I’m A Dragon EP

This two track EP from the trap maestro is not one to be missed.  A track entitled Kannibalen, the name of the label he is signed to, the vocals make absolutely no sense, but who cares when such craftsmanship has been put into the track.  An excellent drop with heavy bass sounds and fast paced drums create a song which has been on repeat for days.

The second track entitled I’m A Dragon features hip-hop legend Sway of Dcypha Productions from London, his vocals accompany the hard hitting drums and the gritty trap bassline.  The only qualm I have is the random pause near to the end, approximately five minutes, then the track springs back into life.  Either way, a solid track.

3.  Dec3mber x Tempest x Lord Swan3x – Threefold

Personally I don’t think there is much to say about this track, this was covered in a previous post which can be found here. Melody, heavy bass and wobble bass, a perfect dubstep track.  Note that this track is also available for free download if you so wish to have this track.

4.  Dec3mber x EH!DE – Hyperreality

Another track available for free download, Dec3mber or Harvey Thompson, collaborates with the Spanish EH!DE, to produce a very melodic yet heavy drop track.  It is almost impossible to describe this chorus, there is so much bass involved it leaves you speechless.  Then the transition comes in and provides a combination of melody and the same hard hitting bass.  Followed by a cool down of joyful melody with the repeating drop again, this track is quite excellent.

Dec3mber is really growing his fan base with the excellent tracks he is putting together with big names. Now over 10,000 fans, I came across him when he had merely 200 followers, his hard work has paid off and there is more to come from the young man.

5. EH!DE & Sex Whales – Surrounded (Code:Pandorum Remix)

There is a recurring theme here, another free download available here through the Electrostep Network, Code:Pandorum has remixed the already heavy track Surrounded, and it has become ever heavier with heavy snares, almost machine-gun synth sounds and growling basslines, released just this evening, it is one for the heavy dubstep fans.

6. p0gman – Pizza

Out tomorrow, not available for free download unsurprisingly, Pizza by p0gman is very much p0gman-esque.  We hear the trademark sounds, once again grimy and with some nice variation in synth patterns.  The vocal “Let’s go get some pizza” echoes throughout the track, while a little less bass comes in, but then returns to the heavy pattern and drop that the track started with.  A nice release from the man signed to Disciple Recordings.

7. Desmeon & Paul Flint – Flying Aids

I’m sure you can let me off with this one, this was released 10 days ago, but I could not let it be forgotten.  This track is fast paced almost from the start, oddly entailing details about the Black Death and relating it to “Flying Aids” the name of the track.  This however is one of my favourite trap tracks at the moment, the fast pace, the reverb sounds and excellent detail. Accompanying sound effects and vocals throughout the track and another build up to an alternate drop, this track deserves a chance, unknown producers but ones that have produced something of excellent quality.  Also, free download!

So that’s that for this weeks favourite tracks, I hope you discover some new music or at least agree with some of my choices.  If you can recommend any new tracks that I have missed this week please feel free to leave a comment.
